Description

The SmartPlug 50A boat inlet brings the same anti-overheating design to larger 125/250V systems that run air conditioning, chargers and galley loads. Its push-in sleeve design transfers cord weight and movement to the plug body rather than the pins, keeping the high-current contacts secure and corrosion-free where a loose twist-type connection would arc and overheat.

Finished with a marine-grade 316 stainless steel cover, it retrofits the existing 50A twist-type hole pattern in around 30 minutes. It is certified ETL and built to ABYC E-11, and pairs with any SmartPlug 50A connector or cordset.

What makes SmartPlug safer than a twist-type shore power connector?
Most shore power failures and fires are caused by overheating, not electrical shorting. A twist-type plug relies on a few curved pins that also carry the weight of the cord, so they work loose, arc and overheat. SmartPlug uses a push-in sleeve so the plug body takes the cord's load, provides over 27 times the pin contact area, and seals the connection behind three weatherproof gaskets.
Will it fit my existing twist-type inlet holes?
Yes. The SmartPlug inlet flange matches the standard 50A twist-type mounting hole pattern, so most retrofits are finished in about 30 minutes without drilling new holes.
What do I need to plug into it?
Connect a SmartPlug 50A connector or a SmartPlug 50A cordset. The dock end of the cordset stays a standard 50A twist-type plug that fits marina pedestals.
