Description

The Icom IC-GM1600E is a GMDSS survival craft two-way VHF radio engineered to survive and function in the extreme conditions common to marine emergencies. It meets the strict environmental requirements for survival craft radio, including temperature, thermal shock, vibration and drop resistance from 1 m, and carries both the UK Red Ensign MER and European wheel mark MED certifications to satisfy SOLAS carriage requirements.

A high-capacity BP-234 lithium battery pack delivers more than 8 hours of operation even at minus 20 degrees Celsius, while IPX7 waterproof construction with a Speed Water Removal function keeps communications clear in the worst conditions. The highly visible yellow body, large glove-friendly keypad with positive button action and wide viewing angle LCD make the radio easy to find and operate under stress, and rear-panel operating instructions help even an unskilled operator. One-touch access to channel 16 and an optional VOX headset capability round out this essential piece of emergency equipment.
