The Raymarine RVM1600 is a high power black box sonar module that brings RealVision MAX 3D, SideVision, DownVision and up to 1 kW CHIRP sonar to LightHouse 4 multifunction displays. Two transducer sockets cover 25-pin RealVision and 11-pin 1 kW connections, with networking over a single RayNet cable. It is the sonar engine for Axiom 2 XL glass bridge systems.

Description

The Raymarine RVM1600 3D CHIRP sonar module adds serious fishfinding capability to a LightHouse 4 network. It supports RealVision MAX 3D with improved ping rates and tighter beamwidths, plus SideVision, DownVision, conical CPT-S sonar and a 600 W High CHIRP channel for extended traditional range and stronger target returns.

Two transducer connections are provided: a 25-pin socket for RealVision MAX 3D and RealVision 3D transducers, and an 11-pin socket for up to 1 kW CHIRP and traditional transducers. Indicative ranges reach 366 m on CHIRP, 91 m on RealVision MAX 3D and SideVision, 183 m on DownVision, and 1,524 m with a 1 kW transducer in optimum conditions. SideVision, DownVision and CPT-S transducers connect via adapter cable A80490, and traditional transducers via A80496, both sold separately.

The module runs on 12 or 24 V dc, is waterproof to IPx6 and IPx7, and connects to the display over a single RayNet cable. It works with Axiom 2 Pro, Axiom 2 XL, Axiom XL, Axiom Pro, Axiom and Axiom+ displays running LightHouse 4 version 4.1 or later.

Which displays work with the RVM1600?

The RVM1600 works with Axiom 2 Pro, Axiom 2 XL, Axiom XL, Axiom Pro, Axiom and Axiom+ multifunction displays, and every display in the system must run LightHouse 4 software version 4.1 or later. (87436 Rev 1, §3.4)

Which transducers can I connect to the RVM1600?

RealVision MAX 3D and RealVision 3D transducers connect directly to the 25-pin socket. SideVision, DownVision and CPT-S transducers need adapter cable A80490. CHIRP transducers up to 1 kW connect to the 11-pin socket, and traditional transducers need adapter cable A80496. (87436 Rev 1, §6.1)

Is there a limit on RealVision MAX transducer cable length?

Yes. The total cable length between a RealVision MAX 3D transducer and the sonar module, including the transducer's captive cable, must not exceed 18 m (59 ft). (87436 Rev 1, §18.2)

Does the RVM1600 come with a fuse?

No. A 5 A inline fuse in a waterproof holder (or a 5 A thermal breaker) is required on the power feed and must be purchased separately. (87436 Rev 1, §4.2)

Does the RVM1600 work on 24 volt systems?

Yes. It accepts 12 V or 24 V dc, with an operating range of 10.8 V to 31.2 V dc and a maximum draw of 10.4 W. (87436 Rev 1, §17.2)
