Description

The Balmar Max Charge MC-624 is the 24-volt member of Balmar's latest generation of smart, multi-stage Max Charge voltage regulators. It provides precise voltage control for Balmar high-output 24-volt alternators and other externally regulated P-type alternators, with user-selectable programs for deep cycle flooded, standard flooded, gel, AGM, spiral wound AGM and LiFePO4 batteries. A universal default program that is safe for most battery types is also provided, along with a dedicated program for vessels running voltage-sensitive halogen equipment. On start-up the regulator gently ramps the alternator up to full bulk voltage, then steps down through absorption and float for a complete, controlled charge. Alongside its preset battery programs, the MC-624 offers a wealth of advanced programming modes so charging can be tailored to almost any environment, all accessible through the supplied magnetic programming tool. When used with the optional MC-TS-A alternator and MC-TS-B battery temperature sensors, the regulator monitors ambient temperature and reduces or discontinues charging should a catastrophic over-temperature condition occur at the alternator or the batteries. It also features Balmar's Belt Load Manager for limiting field output to protect drive belts. This version is supplied complete with the 54 inch wiring harness, a fused battery sense pigtail and the magnetic programming tool.

Is the MC-624 a 12V or 24V regulator?
The MC-624 is a 24-volt regulator. It controls Balmar high-output 24-volt alternators and other externally regulated P-type alternators. For 12-volt systems use the MC-618, and for 48-volt systems use the MC-620.
What is supplied with the MC-624-H?
The -H kit includes the MC-624 regulator, a 54 inch wiring harness, a fused (1A) battery sense wire pigtail, the magnetic programming tool and a quick start guide. A box marked MC-624 without the H designation does not include the harness or the battery sense pigtail.
Can the MC-624 charge lithium batteries?
Yes. The MC-624 includes a LiFePO4 battery program among its user-selectable presets. For over-temperature protection Balmar recommends fitting the optional MC-TS-A alternator and MC-TS-B battery temperature sensors.
