Description
The Icom IC-M804 is a long-range MF/HF Class E DSC marine SSB transceiver built for ocean-going sailors and commercial non-GMDSS operators who need dependable communications far beyond VHF range. It is based on the MED approved Class A GMDSS GM800, sharing almost identical functionality apart from its DSC class, and is CE marked for the European Radio Equipment Directive.
A large independent Distress button with a spring-loaded cover sends an automated digital distress call with GNSS coordinates, while a dedicated DSC watch-keeping receiver continuously scans the six distress channels. The 4.3 inch wide viewing angle colour TFT display, directional keypad and soft keys make day-to-day operation straightforward, and the integrated GNSS receiver, NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183/-HS connectivity tie the radio into the wider vessel network. An IPX7 protected controller and corrosion-resistant construction suit it to harsh maritime conditions, and 12 V and 24 V versions are available.
