Description
The Balmar MC-618 is the latest generation of Balmar's smart, multi-stage Max Charge voltage regulator, developed to deliver precise, battery-specific charging control for Balmar high-output 12-volt alternators and other externally regulated P-type alternators. It replaces the long-serving MC-614 and adds a new Carbon Foam AGM battery profile, improved high-temperature alternator control, and protection that prevents lithium batteries from being charged below freezing. User-selectable programs cover deep cycle flooded, standard flooded, gel, AGM, spiral wound AGM, Carbon Foam and LiFePO4 batteries, plus a universal default program for vessels running voltage-sensitive halogen equipment.
Beyond its preset battery programs, the MC-618 offers a full suite of advanced programming modes so charging can be tuned to almost any installation. It communicates with the Balmar SG200 Battery Monitor over the SmartLink network, letting you view real-time charging stage, target versus actual voltage and field output percentage on the SG200 colour display, and when the optional Bluetooth gateway is added, full basic and advanced programming is available from the Balmar smartphone app. Used with the optional MC-TS-A alternator and MC-TS-B battery temperature sensors, the regulator monitors ambient temperature and reduces or discontinues charging if a catastrophic over-temperature condition occurs. This version is supplied complete with the plug-in wiring harness and magnetic programming tool for a straightforward installation.
