Description

The E70331 is the OEM bulk-pack part number for the Raymarine p70s autopilot control head, supplied in multiples of ten for production boatbuilders and volume installers. Every head in the carton is the standard p70s: a push-button Evolution pilot controller for sailing boats with a 3.45 inch optically bonded TFT display, 320 x 240 resolution, 1,200 cd/m2 brightness and dedicated one and ten degree course keys, plus wind vane and AutoTack modes with a networked wind instrument.

Each unit connects to the SeaTalkng backbone over a single spur, drawing 1.57 W, and is waterproof to IPx6 and IPx7. The heads command any Evolution system built on an EV-1 or EV-2 sensor with ACU-100 through ACU-400 actuator units. Retail packaging accessories may differ from the single-unit E70328; confirm carton contents with us before ordering.

What is the difference between the p70s and p70Rs?
Both share the same 3.45 inch optically bonded colour display. The p70s uses push buttons with dedicated one and ten degree course keys and is designed for sailing boats. The p70Rs adds a rotary dial for course changes and power steer mode and is designed for power boats.
Which bezels are supplied with the p70s and p70Rs?
Both finishes come in the box: a black bezel matching Axiom chartplotters and a gunmetal bezel matching eS Series displays, plus a protective suncover.
Can I fit more than one pilot controller?
Yes. Several controllers can command the same autopilot, for example a p70Rs at the helm and an Axiom chartplotter at the flybridge. SeaTalk 1 era controllers can join via the SeaTalk 1 to SeaTalkng converter with limited functionality.
Does an Evolution autopilot need calibration?
No. Set-up is automatic: the rudder gain, rudder damping, counter rudder and compass calibration routines required by earlier autopilots are no longer necessary, and the system keeps refining itself as you use the boat. This is documented in the EV-1 installation instructions (87472).
Can I control the autopilot from my chartplotter?
Yes. Compatible controllers include the Axiom, Axiom+, Axiom Pro, Axiom 2 Pro, Axiom XL and Axiom 2 XL chartplotter families as well as the p70s and p70Rs pilot heads. Axiom 2 Pro and Axiom 2 XL need LightHouse 4 v4.4.70 or later; earlier families are supported per the compatibility tables in document 87472.
