Description

The Lowrance Point-1 is the ideal position and heading device for your NMEA 2000 network. It provides extremely accurate and rapid boat position and speed updates and, unlike position-only antennas, also delivers heading for accurate boat direction at any speed and for radar and chart overlay.

An integrated solid-state electronic compass provides 10 Hz heading for chart stabilisation and radar overlay, plus accurate course over ground even at low speeds. The Point-1 supports GPS and GLONASS along with SBAS corrections (WAAS, EGNOS and MSAS) across 32 channels. It is fully waterproof to IPX7, compact and rugged, and can be flush or pole mounted on any boat. A molded 1.2 m NMEA 2000 drop cable is built in for simple connection.

Does the Point-1 provide heading as well as position?
Yes. As well as GPS position, the Point-1 has a built-in solid-state electronic compass that provides 10 Hz heading for chart stabilisation and radar overlay, accurate to +/- 3 degrees.
Which satellite systems does the Point-1 use?
It receives GPS and GLONASS across 32 channels and supports SBAS corrections including WAAS, EGNOS and MSAS, with position accurate to 3 m and updates up to 10 Hz.
How does the Point-1 connect to my system?
It connects to any NMEA 2000 network via a built-in molded 1.2 m Micro-C drop cable, and runs from the network's 9-18 V DC supply drawing less than 2 W.
How do I mount the Point-1?
The Point-1 can be flush mounted or fitted to a standard pole mount. It should be sited with a clear view of the sky, at least 0.5 m from a compass and away from radar, magnets and high-current cables.
Does the compass need calibrating?
Yes. The built-in heading sensor should be calibrated before use by making consecutive 360-degree turns in calm conditions, or from a compatible multifunction display, to compensate for your vessel's local magnetic field.
