Description

The Lowrance Link-6S is a compact fixed-mount DSC VHF radio for helms where space is at a premium. Its slimline chassis slots into smaller dashboards and tighter installations, yet it keeps full DSC calling and a built-in GPS receiver so it can place distress and routine calls on its own, without depending on another instrument for position.

A removable four-key hand microphone and clear menu interface make day-to-day use easy, and an external speaker output helps the radio be heard in a noisy cockpit. Where the radio sits behind glass or under a hardtop, the GPS antenna SMA port accepts an optional external antenna for a stronger fix.

Over its NMEA 0183 port the Link-6S can share position and DSC data with a connected Lowrance chartplotter such as an HDS, Elite FS or Hook, tying the radio into the rest of the helm. It can be gimbal-bracket or flush mounted, with a flush mount kit supplied.

What is the difference between the Link-6 and the Link-6S?
The Link-6S adds a built-in GPS receiver and internal antenna, so it can provide its own position data for DSC calls without an external GPS source. The original Link-6 relies on an external GPS source over NMEA 0183. Both share the same compact chassis and Class D DSC capability.
Does the Link-6S have a built-in GPS receiver?
Yes. The Link-6S has a built-in GPS receiver and internal antenna, with a connector for an optional external GPS antenna if reception at the radio is restricted.
Does the Link-6S support NMEA 2000?
No. The Link-6S has a NMEA 0183 port but does not have a NMEA 2000 port. If you need NMEA 2000 connectivity and a built-in AIS receiver, consider the Lowrance Link-9.
What transmit power does the Link-6S offer?
The Link-6S transmits at a selectable 25 W (high) or 1 W (low) for long-range or short-range communication.
Is the Link-6S waterproof?
Yes. The Link-6S is waterproof and submersible to the IPx7 standard.
