Description
The Simrad RS40 brings collision-avoidance awareness and reliable DSC communications to one compact fixed-mount unit. Its built-in dual-channel AIS receiver continuously monitors the position of nearby AIS-equipped vessels, shown on the radio's own FSTN display or overlaid on a compatible Simrad multifunction display through NMEA 2000. An internal GPS receiver and antenna keep your position attached to DSC distress calls even if the rest of the network is powered down, with additional GPS options via an external antenna or networked NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000 sources.
A removable six-key hand mic with built-in speaker can be connected to the front or rear of the radio and mounted remotely with an optional extension cable, giving a tidy installation in almost any helm layout. Add up to two HS40 wireless handsets to control the radio from anywhere on board and use the system as an intercom. Integrated hailer and fog horn functions, dedicated weather, scan and distress keys, and submersible IPx7 construction round out a radio built for everyday coastal and offshore use.
