Do I need an H5000 CPU to use the Pilot Computer?

Yes. To steer to wind the Pilot Computer requires an H5000 Hydra, Hercules or Performance CPU on the network. The instrument system feeds sensor data over the network to the Pilot Computer, which processes it and drives the steering gear.

What steering features does the H5000 Pilot offer?

The record-breaking B&G Pilot includes dedicated sailing algorithms and steering modes such as Gust Response, Recovery and High Wind Response, developed and proven in demanding offshore and racing conditions.

How is the Pilot Computer connected?

It connects to the H5000 Micro-C (NMEA 2000 compatible) network backbone, which carries data between the CPU, displays, sensors and the Pilot Computer. It then outputs to the drive system you fit.

What drive types can the Pilot Computer control?

It can drive a linear ram, rotary drive or hydraulic pump. B&G and Simrad reversible hydraulic pumps, hydraulic rams and drive units are compatible options for steering the vessel to the desired heading or course.

How do I control the autopilot?

You can control and set up the pilot from an H5000 Pilot Controller, an H5000 Graphic Display, a compatible Triton2 display or keypad, or wireless controllers such as the WR10. The Pilot Controller provides dedicated access to all autopilot functions.

What is the environmental rating of the Pilot Computer?

The H5000 Pilot Computer carries an IPX4 environmental protection rating and should be mounted vertically in a protected location below decks, with a compass safe distance of 0.3 m (1.0 ft).
