Simrad Halo 4 Pulse Compression Radar
Description
The Simrad Halo 4 is a complete open array pulse compression radar system pairing a solid-state 25 W pedestal with a 4 ft antenna and the RI-12 interface module. The longer 4 ft array narrows the horizontal beam to 1.8 degrees (sharpening to 1.3 degrees) for excellent target separation, and extends instrumented range to 64 nautical miles.
With no magnetron the system is ready to transmit in 16 to 25 seconds from power-on and suffers no long-term transmitter degradation, while low-power pulsed transmissions keep it safe to operate in harbours and marinas. Antenna rotation is software-controlled at approximately 24 to 48 rpm, and the supplied RI-12 module feeds NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183 navigation data into the radar. Built to IEC60945 with IPX6 weatherproofing, the Halo 4 connects over Ethernet to compatible Simrad displays.
