Description

Simrad NAC-3 Autopilot Computer Only

The high-current NAC-3 autopilot computer is designed for vessels over 10 metres (33 feet) in length, with the ability to run heavy-duty hydraulic drive pumps & linear rams, and also provides solenoid output.

The NAC-3 Autopilot Computer is the brains behind your autopilot system. NAC-3 contains the control algorithms developed to helm a yacht across a broad range of weather conditions and sea-states, alongside the electronics needed to operate a hydraulic or mechanical drive unit, while also interfacing with other components including heading sensors and rudder feedback units. The NAC-3 was designed for boats 10 metres (33 feet) or greater in length and is rated to operate high-current hydraulic drives, mechanical drive units, and solenoid valves with a current rating of 30 Amps continuous (50 Amps peak).

What size of boat is the NAC-3 suitable for?
The NAC-3 is designed for boats 10 metres (33 feet) or greater in length and is rated to operate high-current hydraulic drive pumps, mechanical drive units and solenoid valves.
What is the drive output of the NAC-3?
The NAC-3 provides reversible motor control up to 30 amps continuous and 50 amps peak, or on/off solenoid control at 12/24 V DC, plus a clutch/bypass output rated to 3 amps.
Does the NAC-3 support NMEA 0183 as well as NMEA 2000?
Yes. In addition to a Micro-C NMEA 2000 port (1 LEN), the NAC-3 has one NMEA 0183 port (IN/OUT) supporting 4.8, 9.6, 19.2 and 38.4 kbaud.
Which rudder feedback units does the NAC-3 support?
The NAC-3 supports NMEA 2000 RF25 rudder feedback units and frequency-output RF300 units. Virtual Rudder Feedback is also available for outboard and sterndrive boats.
What supply voltage and fuse does the NAC-3 require?
The NAC-3 operates on 12/24 V DC (+/- 10-30%) with a recommended 30 A fuse. It must be grounded to the vessel main ground before any other connections are made.
